Does anybody think Hillary’s mandate for mandatory health insurance sound stupid?

compare auto insurance
mrduckmann asked:

She compares it to states requiring auto insurance. They require liability so that if you hit someone or something you can cover them. Not comparing apples to apples here lady!

Well, why should a car be cared for better than a person? If a person is genetically predisposed to something, should we require liability so that they can be covered or better yet–prevented.

The Mayo Clinic, unsolicited, is also saying every American should have insurance.

No, not stupid I think it sounds like another step down that road of totalitarianism.

    a) “Socialism guides our behavior…In practice, we keep moving down the Socialist road…In fact, we are more than half Socialist today, that is, more than half the total output of the country is being distributed in a way that is determined by the government (including regulations)…Bill Clinton is a Socialist, defined as somebody who believes that the way to achieve good things is to have government do it. You can’t think of a more Socialist program than the health care program that he tried to get us to adopt.” Milton Friedman, (C-Span), November 20, 1994, in Dennis L. Cuddy, The Road to Socialism and the New World Order, p. 74.

Ah yes, no better way to increase costs (and profits for insurance industry) than to make everyone buy insurance.

I can see it now, $400 per working adult, $600 per family. PER MONTH. $250 deductible and 30% co-pay. Certain conditions excluded such as diabetes, obesity, mental illness and being a member of Congress.

(Sounds like one of those “whats in your wallet?” credit card commercials.)

It’s sad that conservatives always place more value on property than human lives. To them it’s more important to repair the car after the accident than it is to heal the driver.

    You may be right.

However–our health care system is a mess–and must be reformed. So far, all the conservatives have done is criticize Democratic reform proposals.

Here’s a head’s up: For the ordinary citizen, if it comes down to a choice between getting health care for THEIR kid–or your ideology–your ideology is going to lose. 100% of the time.

If the conservatives don’t want an expanded role for government in health care–they are going to have to start coming up with some alternative reform proposals that will provide access to everyone. Not ideology. Not political slogans. Real, workable ideas.

If the conservatives do not do this–we will see a much bigger role for the government in providing health care. Because–like I said–when it comes right down to it, people need health care. And that is more important–to them–than the conservative agenda.

There are some viable comparisons. If you drive without insurance and hit someone they typically must have insurance for those without. That drives up the cost of the policy for those who insure.
If you have no health insurance you go to the ER and they must treat. That drives up the cost of insurance for those who have coverage.
    There lies the correlation.

I haven’t seen the details of Hillary’s plan, but requiring everyone to get health insurance is like requiring car insurance, with minor exceptions. While there is no liability to another individual, when uninsured people get seriouly sick, they still get seen at an ER, at the expense of insured people and hospitals. Requiring health insurance means that we aren’t stuck with the choice of having hospitals turn away uninsured people who need emergency attention, or having other people pay for the uninsured.

I haven’t seen the details of the Clinton plan, so I don’t know if it is good or not. But we need to fix a few problems with our system if we want to keep it great–and one of the biggest is uninsured people not going to the doctor until they are in seriously bad shape, and doing it then when they are in bad shape and someone else will pay the bill. Find a good way to get everyone (or at least everyone who is employed) health insurance, and that’s step one–and maybe the only step we need.

Oh god, I read that too.
I don’t have health insurance because I am not employed. Does this mean I have to be employed all the time?
I don’t really even need health insurance on the whole.
I only would have it in case I do get seriously hurt.
Other than that, I don’t have illnesses or allergies or any medical conditions. I don’t take medicines or have health issues.

I’m not voting for Hillary. I advise many people not to either.

No, it doesn’t sound stupid but I think Hillary has to clarify her plans for controlling the cost of health insurance. The other Democratic candidates have specific proposals in their health plans to address the costs of insurance premiums. I’ve only seen the media articles describing her plan so perhaps a more in-depth review might reveal the way in which she plans to address that issue.

While i do think our health insurance program in America needs reformed having Universal healthcare is not the answer….all a universal program does is make a country dependent on its government. All of us will have to depend on the government. Yes, our insurance co. need to adhere to stricter policies, universal is not the way to go.

On your analogy……there should be no comparison there….
